Distance Learning

Geneva School offers Distance Learning option for Fall 2020

Dear Friends,

Due to the COVID19 pandemic, we have made adjustments not just for our students but also for the Admissions process. I am thankful for this past year when our faculty, families, and students made a remarkable transition to Distance Learning with resilience and creativity. The curriculum they received during those unusual times was extraordinary, and I commend our faculty and staff for their dedication and agility.

I am excited to return to School for On-Campus Learning on August 26. We are also offering full Distance Learning for families who wish to continue receiving our excellent education remotely.

Thanks again for your interest in our School, and we wish you health and hope during this time.

Rim Hinckley
Head of School

"Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good,
for his steadfast love endures forever." (Psalm 136:1)

Distance Learning 2020-2021

Geneva School will employ Distance Learning to educate students while they are not physically present at School. Instruction will be provided through live interactive classes, self-paced study, and homework. Dedicated faculty will oversee our Distance Learning students. Preschool and Lower School Distance Learning students will have daily Zoom classes covering the same content as their On-Campus cohorts. Upper School Distance Learning students will receive instruction through pre-recorded videos and daily Zoom sessions.

The school will provide distance learning to students through two platforms:

  • Google Classroom will be the primary hub for accessing and uploading assignments and assessments. Daily work will be accessible by 8:30AM and may include the following: video clips, assignments, and assessments.
  • Zoom Meetings will facilitate interactive classrooms.

Distance Learning 2019-2020

Using Zoom and Google Classroom, we continue to inspire students to love God and love learning. The dedication, creativity, and affection of our faculty for their students mirror God's tender love for his children. Daily lessons are rigorous and include all subjects without sacrificing any content.

Here are sample lessons:

Thursday Assembly

Our entire School community gathered online for Thursday Assembly, retaining all its components: Dona Nobis Pacem, prayer, worship in song, Scripture reading, Upper School Bible speech, Fruit of the Spirit awards, and Doxology.

Student Council Devotionals

Here are some devotionals written by Student Council members:

Public Reading of Scripture

Families joined weekly Public Reading of Scripture sessions to listen communally to God's Word read aloud.

Lunchtime Playdates

Students met up online during lunch, interacting outside of class sessions.

Parent Gatherings

Parents attended weekly "Evenings with Ms. Hinckley," meeting up with other parents of children in the same grades.

"Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain." (Psalm 127:1)
Faculty, staff, parents, and students gather regularly to pray for one another, our school, New York City, and the world.
