As part of our founding mission to partner with Christian parents in the education of their children, Geneva School relies on the input, involvement, and influence of its School parents. We believe that deeply involved parents are one of our greatest assets and ensure the nurturing environment we desire for our students. Parents play a significant role in Geneva School culture and are a part of the diverse and rich community that fosters lifelong friendships.
Parents are asked to participate in Parent Time Commitment, consisting of regular involvement in a variety of school events and facilitating an active and thriving community. Parents are encouraged to contribute in their own areas of interest and giftedness. Opportunities include:
Faculty work closely with parents to identify goals for each student and throughout the year engage in regular dialogue with parents at parent-teacher conferences. Teachers keep parents informed of their student’s successes and challenges through email, phone calls, or additional in-person meetings.
Our School families represent more than fifty-five churches from numerous Christian denominations throughout the city. They find common ground at Geneva School through their faith in Jesus Christ and a desire for a rich learning experience for their children. To maintain this unity and ensure a consistent experience for our students, all Geneva School parents affirm our Statement of Faith.
We host regular events designed specifically for our parents, such as Parent Education events with guest speakers, the Parent Reception in the fall, and our annual Geneva Gala in the spring. Weekly Assembly brings the whole community together for worship and class performances and is open to both current and prospective parents.
For our family, Geneva School has been an absolute oasis in New York City. We found a loving community where we have made lifelong friends. In the Geneva School community there are people from all different Christian traditions, but what brings us together is the love of Christ. " —Catherine F. (P'19)
